“It should be a sign of solidarity with the many free artists, for whom the cultural lockdown pulls the ground from under their feet. We have to go through this crisis together and show solidarity! ”say the musicians of the Staatskapelle Berlin and their general music director Daniel Barenboim.

The German Orchestra Association with its German Orchestra Foundation has set up an emergency aid fund for freelance musicians in the corona crisis. Since March 16, more than 1.26 Million Euros have been collected. Aid has already been given to over 2.000 freelance musicians. All freelancers registered with the artists’ social security fund are entitled. The German Orchestra Foundation continues collecting donations for freelancers in Germany, so that further emergency aid can be provided.
